Fans have vented their unhappiness on Twitter over tennis star Serena Williams' being name as the Sports Illustrated Sports person of the Year. Some think American Pharaoh, the most popular horse in the world right now should have won the award. American Pharaoh is the first race horse to win a first triple crown in 37 years.

In a poll organized for the magazine's readers, the horse came out tops for the SI award, hence the fans reactions after Serena was named the magazine's Sports Person of the Year.

American Pharoah, who has proven himself the best U.S. Thoroughbred in recent memory has thrilled millions of people and likely accomplished something that we will not see repeated anytime soon.

Of course, a strong argument can be made for Serena as well — one that goes beyond the obvious points that the award is called the Sports Person of the year and only humans have won it since its inception in 1954. Williams won 53 of the 56 matches she played this year, including three of the four Grand Slam events, and held the No. 1 spot in the WTA rankings every week.

After losing out on the award to Serena, a funny meme was released showing American Pharaoh typing his reply to SI for not giving him the award.. LOL...see all of it below...

French police have arrested a man in the Paris region as part of the investigation into the 13 November attacks in the city, sources say.

Some 2,700 raids have been conducted since the attacks, with 360 people placed under house arrest across France, the AFP news agency reports.

Police have also arrested two people in northern France suspected of supplying weapons to one of the gunmen in January attacks, reports say.

They were taken in for questioning.

The 29-year-old man arrested on Tuesday was planning to travel to Syria, according to one French media report.

The Paris prosecutor's office says the two people arrested in northern France were held on suspicion of helping to provide guns to Amedy Coulibaly, who attacked a kosher supermarket in January.

The prosecutor's office confirmed that the man arrested was Claude Hermant, who is known to have links to far-right groups, while the other is his partner.

Coulibaly killed four people inside the supermarket, and separately a policewoman, before dying in a shootout with police.

Charlie Hebdo attack: Three days of terror

Separately, two independent eyewitnesses have told the BBC that they saw the ringleader of November's Paris attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, on the Greek island of Leros in October, placing him there at the same time as two Stade de France suicide bombers travelled through.

These sightings support French newspaper reports on Monday, quoting French and Moroccan security officials, who said this was highly likely, reports the BBC's Gavin Lee in Leros.

It is known that the two Stade de France bombers arrived on Leros aboard smugglers' boats on 3 October, then left for Athens with four other men, who have not been seen since.

A travel agent in Leros, who unwittingly sold the two bombers ferry tickets to Athens, says he is reasonably sure he also served Abaaoud, who stood out from hundreds of other migrants because he spoke French.

A trustee at the main island hospital also claims Abaaoud came to the hospital to be treated for a minor leg wound. He claims Abaaoud appeared nervous and suspicious, and offered a €100 (£73; $110) bribe to jump the treatment queue.

Belgian and French officials say Abaaoud, a Belgian Islamist of Moroccan descent, organised November's attacks which killed 130 people.

He was known to have been living in Athens in January this year, but fled to Syria after a failed attempt by Belgian police to catch him.

Yesterday the world woke up to the sad news of the untimely death of one of Kenya’s best news anchors Ahmed Darwesh. His untimely death has left many in shock especially since he was okay a few days ago while reading the news. Death strikes like a thief, no one knows the time or place and that’s more reason as to why we all should value every minute we are alive.

Yesterday one of Kenya’s most influential personalities Esther Passaris through her social media accounts broke the sad news of her grandmother whom she dearly loved. Passaris  is one of Kenya’s women leaders who vied for the Nairobi’s Women Rep post back in 2013.

Through an emotional post she revealed how the woman she was named after had been a blessing to many and how the two had a special connection. Our condolences go out to the entire family.

Akizungumza jana na mwandishi wa habari wa Azam TV, Mbowe alisema kuwa rais Magufuli ameanza vizuri kiutendaji na kwamba ameanza kuzifanyia kazi hoja zilizokuwa zikihubiriwa na Chadema ndani na nje ya Bunge.

Mbowe alieleza kuwa dhana ya upinzani sio kupinga kila kitu kinachofanywa na serikali hivyo chama chake hakitakuwa tayari kupinga mambo mema yanayofanywa na serikali ya awamu ya tano kama baadhi ya watu wanavyotarajia, bali kitajikita katika kujadili na kuibua hoja za msingi.

Tatizo kubwa katika machine ya CT Scan picha hazisomeki vizuri na MRI imeharibika spea ambazo kwa mujibu wa uongozi wa hospitali hiyo, matengenezo yanaanza leo.

Hata hivyo, Mwalimu ameagiza uongozi wa hospitali hiyo ya rufaa kuchukua hatua madhubuti kuhakikisha kuwa mashine hizi zinarudi katika hali yake ya kawaida.

Mashine hizo zimeendelea kuwa changamoto kwa hospitali hiyo licha ya Rais John Magufuli kufanya ziara ya kushtukiza na kukuta hali kama ya leo.
