When Beyoncé first released her music video for "Formation," the Beyhive was in absolute awe. Her fans were thrilled to have received more music from Queen Bey and the Internet was jazzed to hear about a potential new album from the star. But there was a group, however, who wasn't exactly pleased with Bey's project.
Some felt the "Crazy in Love" songstress was using her music video as a way to criticize police. The video for "Formation" shows footage of New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and features Black Lives Matter imagery. In Ellemagazine's new issue, Beyoncé addresses the backlash of her latest project.
"I mean, I'm an artist and I think the most powerful art is usually misunderstood. But anyone who perceives my message as anti-police is completely mistaken," she says in the new issue. "I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of officers who sacrifice themselves to keep us safe. But let's be clear: I am against police brutality and injustice. Those are two separate things."

Although Beyoncé explains where she and her video were coming from, she doesn't back down in defending her art. "If celebrating my roots and culture during Black History Month made anyone uncomfortable, those feelings were there long before a video and long before me," she continues. "I'm proud of what we created and I'm proud to be part of a conversation that is pushing things forward in a positive way."
"Formation" isn't the first time Beyoncé has used her platform to express a political message. During the Mrs. Carter Show tour, the "Single Ladies" singer had "feminist" blasted across stadium screens.

"I don't like or embrace any label. I don't want calling myself a feminist to make it feel like that's my one priority, over racism or sexism or anything else. I'm just exhausted by labels and tired of being boxed in," she shares. "If you believe in equal rights, the same way society allows a man to express his darkness, to express his pain, to express his sexuality, to express his opinion—I feel that women have the same rights."
Beyoncé is hoping her work will help others do what's right. "I hope I can create art that helps people heal. Art that makes people feel proud of their struggle," she admits. "Everyone experiences pain, but sometimes you need to be uncomfortable to transform."

Drake is getting fans excited for the release of his upcoming album!
The rapper not only dropped one, but two tracks from Views From the 6, which is expected to be released later this month, showing off the diversity that the album as well as the many big names that will be featured.
In fact, the first track, titled "Pop Style," features Kanye West and Jay Z. The low beat with heavy bass hears Drake rapping about distrust and heartlessness, while The Throne (Kanye and Jay) spit lines about their critics. At one point 'Ye even drops a reference to his infamous VMA moment, rapping, "Jay about his business, and I'mma let you finish but..."
The second song, "One Dance," is more of a dance tune with a beat that's reminiscent us of "Hotline Bling" and features Nigerian artist Wizkid and Filipino R&B singer Kyla.
Both songs follow the album's first single, "Summer Sixteen," which Drake dropped in January, and interestingly enough, included lines about both Kanye and Jay.
"I used to want to be on Roc-A-Fella, then I turned into Jay. Now I got a house in L.A., now I got a bigger pool than 'Ye," he raps in the song, adding, ""Ye's pool is nice, mine's just bigger is what I'm sayin'." 
While some speculated on beef between the trio, obviously their latest collaboration proves it's all for the making of good music.

A pregnant mum-of-two who fell to her death from a third-floor balcony texted her friend moments before to claim her boyfriend was "on his mad, drunk aggressive thing," an inquest heard.
Georgina Drinkwater, 30, was five months pregnant with her third child when she plunged from her flat in Queens Park, north-west London in February 2014.
That night, she texted her best friend about her "aggressive" boyfriend, 28-year-old Robert Weldon, the hearing was told.
Four minutes later, Georgina's body was seen on CCTV hitting the ground.
The couple had been arguing following a night out, Westminster Coroner's Court heard today.
Georgina texted her best friend Claire Wilson, who was looking after her children, writing: "Call me ASAP. He's on his mad, drunk aggressive thing."

However her phone was on silent and she did not get it until the morning, the inquest heard.
The text was sent at 2.49am on Sunday morning and four minutes later Ms Drinkwater was seen on CCTV hitting the ground outside her flat.
The inquest heard that police also found a recording on her phone, in which Mr Weldon was allegedly heard saying, "I cannot take your s**t any more", to which Ms Drinkwater replies, "hit me again like you did last time".
Mr Weldon is then heard saying: "I ain't gonna touch you. Put your drink down you alkie. You're not supposed to be drinking. I cannot wait till you are gone."
DCI Andrew Chalmers told the court how the couple had been out drinking at the Mason's Arms in north-west London, on the night of her death.

Talking the court through still images taken from the CCTV footage, he said: "There is footage of them leaving the Mason's Arms at 1.55am.
"We see Georgina waiting for him. She appears to be wanting to leave.
"They are next spotted in the Booze Spot, where Mr Weldon appears unsteady on his feet and Ms Drinkwater appears frustrated."
The court heard how the couple returned home and were heard by neighbours "arguing and banging and shouting" for between 20 and 40 minutes.

DCI Chalmers said that CCTV footage from a bus stop showed the front of the building, but the couple's third-floor flat was obscured by the light.
He said: "The third-floor flat is blocked out by the light. The first sign of movement we see is the shadow by the second-floor balcony.
"Then we see the body hit the ground. We then move to the internal camera inside Morpheus House and, at 2.53am see Mr Weldon running out of the building."

According to DCI Chalmers, Mr Weldon can be seen "moving backwards and forwards", and trying to stop vehicles in the street.
Eventually, a black-cab stopped, and an ambulance was called. Ms Drinkwater was declared dead at the scene.
Mr Weldon was arrested on suspicion of murder just before 4am.
The court heard he said to the officer: "I can't believe you're doing this."
The inquest was told the Crown Prosecution Service found that there was insufficient evidence and Mr Weldon was released without charge.
A pathologist report from Dr Simon Poole concluded that she had died from "multiple injuries consistent with a free-fall from a height."
The inquest continues.

A porn star is to be honoured with a blue plaque from English Heritage after she scandalised Britain in the 1970s, it's reported.
Mary Millington was one of the wealthiest and most prolific women working in the sex industry in her time and her most successful film even landed her a world record.
But she struggled with drugs and depression and tragically took her own life when she was just 33.
Her famed soft porn movie Come Play With Me played continuously for four years in old Moulin Cinema in London's Soho - the site in which the iconic plaque will be unveiled by her ex tomorrow

David Sullivan, joint chairman of West Ham, told the Sun Mary would have felt vindicated by the tribute.
He said: “She would be very proud. It’s probably the first recognition for any woman from the British sex industry.

"She was a liberal and as long as the act was legal and between consenting adults she felt people should be able to see whatever they wanted.”
The site of the old cinema is now a cocktail bar, while a nightclub in Liverpool has also been named after her.

The Minister of State in the President’s Office - Public Service Management and Good Governance - Ms Angela Kairuki, said the number brings to 7,795 ghost workers identified between January and April 1.
She said the ghost workers have been paid 7.6bn/- since they retired from the public service, saying unfaithful personnel officers in government departments and agencies have been behind the whole move.

“This is an area in which we will keep on working as the government spends 51 per cent of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) collection to foot salary bills, of which 7,795 are ghost workers.
This is unacceptable,” Ms Kairuki stated. Giving a breakdown, the minister said 4,317 were marked within one month, starting March, whereas the remaining 3,033 were spotted after President Magufuli’s directiveearly this year.
She said the list of ghost workers entailed the retired, incarcerated, deceased or those being on unpaid leave and fake names installed in the government’s payroll by dishonest personnel officers as a means to earn money.
Following the situation, Ms Kairuki said all personnel officers in government’s departments and agencies have been directed to have clear records of all employees and their date of employment, work station, duties assigned and date of retirement.
The number, she said, is separate from 1,830 ghost workers spotted in regions and districts as they were as well cracking down on such workers in their respective areas.
However, she added, the list of ghost workers from the regions and district authorities have so many unanswered questions whereas authorities have been directed to put the record straight.
President Magufuli had issued a directive to government departments and agencies to remove ghost workers from the payroll in line with his anti-corruption and austerity drive.
Dr Magufuli warned that officials who fail to implement the directive to remove names of ghost workers in this month’s payroll will be charged, effectively giving relevant officials in public institutions just two weeks to implement the directive.

While in Rwanda, President Magufuli and his host, President Kagame, are expected to preside over the grand opening of the Rusumo International Bridge and One Stop Border Post (OSBP), which are significant facilities developed under the auspices of the East African Community (EAC).
According to a statement issued to the media yesterday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, East African, Regional and International Cooperation, the infrastructure, located on theTanzania-Rwanda border, is vital in not only accelerating cross-border interaction between the two countries but also enhance linkage between the landlocked countries of Eastern and Central Africa and the Indian Ocean.
After the inaugural ceremony, the two leaders will proceed to the Rwandan capital Kigali where they will hold bilateral talks and together lay a wreath at the Kigali Genocide Memorial in memory of the 1994 Rwanda Genocide.
The trip, his first foreign visit since assuming office in October 2015, signifies the importance Tanzania attaches to strengthening relations with its neighbours.
As the current EAC chairman, President Magufuli’s first foreign visit to the region also portrays his commitment to deepening the integration process and strengthening relations between member states of the regional economic grouping.
The two countries are major trading partners. According to reports from Kigali, Dar es Salaam Port handles 60 per cent of the central African country’s exports and imports, making it a key port in terms of handling Rwandan cargo.
Rwanda also regards Tanzania’s central corridor, which combines road and railway network, as an essential trade and transport route, linking it with neighbouring Burundi, Uganda and the eastern part of Democratic Republic of Congo.
Socially, many Rwandans, particularly those who have lived and those who were born in Tanzania, regard the country as their second home.
President Kagame has on several occasions expressed his admiration for Dr Magufuli’s stance on corruption and curbing government expenditure.

Even knowing that, we were still filled with an incredible sense of tension and dread leading up to the reading of the verdict, mostly thanks to all the people we had come to know and love throughout the recreation of this case. When Robert Kardashian threw up in the courthouse bathroom, we felt like throwing up. We wanted to hug Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden, and we wanted to cry with the Goldmans. 
As impartial as the show once claimed to be, it was hard to celebrate with O.J. and his defense, especially because he spent the first few hours of freedom since he was arrested for the gruesome death of his ex-wife having a party, filled with people he didn't even know.
If we didn't have an opinion before, it's hard not to have one now, given whose emotions were most highlighted throughout the finale. Clark and Darden were the heroes who lost, and it immediately seemed that Cochran and Shapiro were just playing the part of believing they were on the right side of the case.
We did feel for Cochran as he watched Clinton address race on live TV and realize what he had achieved by winning, regardless of whether or not he won with the truth, and we weren't loving Marcia's attempt at ignoring or pushing aside the racial aspects of the verdict. Then, she was sharing the story of the time she was raped by a waiter, and how that experience made getting justice for victims all the more important, and our sympathy and respect for her was immediately back. 
Did we decide who to root for based on facts, or based on which emotional moments the show focused on? Should we have been rooting for anyone at all? 
We don't know how to feel, aside from sad that we don't get more Marcia Clark, Chris Darden or Johnnie Cochran. We may even miss Cuba Gooding Jr.'s O.J. Simpson, and we will absolutely miss talking about this show every week.

ZANZIBAR president Ali Mohamed Shein yesterday dashed hopes for another government of national unity (GNU) in the troubled archipelago,

The formation of a coalition government between Zanzibar's two leading parties - the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) and opposition Civic United Front (CUF) - succeeded in easing a political stalemate after the 2010 polls similar to the one currently prevailing in the Isles.
That move led to CUF’s secretary general Seif Sharif Hamad becoming the Isles first vice president while several other CUF members were chosen as cabinet ministers and deputy ministers in the GNU.
But this time around, President Shein said here that since no opposition party garnered the required constitutional threshold of 10 per cent of the vote in the March 20 polls rerun, overwhelming winners CCM would go it alone and form its own government.
The polls rerun was boycotted by CUF, which continues to insist that its presidential candidate Hamad was winning in the original election last October which was annulled in controversial circumstances midway during the vote count.
In the absence of CUF, Shein's closest rival in the presidential race, Hamad Rashid Mohamed from the Alliance for Democratic Change (ADC), got a measly 3 percent of the total vote at the election rerun.
In the Zanzibar context, a GNU is a power-sharing system of government which incorporates representatives of political parties that won at least 10 per cent of the presidential vote.
This is according to section 39(3) of Zanzibar’s 1984 Constitution, as amended in 2010, which Shein quoted in his inaugural address to the Zanzibar House of Representatives here yesterday to drum home his assertion that such a power-sharing deal wasn’t possible this time.
He also noted that CCM had a clean sweep of all 54 House of Representative constituency seats as none of the opposition parties managed to get even a single seat.
“Zanzibaris have made their choice by denying such a possibility (of a coalition government) and giving CCM the room to rule the country alone,” he said.
He said the appointment of Ambassador Seif Ali Idd as second vice president was done according to section 39(6) of the Zanzibar constitution, which states that for a person to hold such a post, he or she must be appointed from within members of the House of Representatives and from the political party of the president.
Dr Shein said he was forced to clarify the matter because of claims that he has refused to appoint a first vice president.
“Why should I have to appoint someone who does not qualify for the post? This would be violating the country’s constitution,” he stated.
He also moved to refute speculation that Zanzibar may be forced to go through yet another general election rerun after last month's disputed exercise, insisting that the next election in the Isles will be held in 2020 as scheduled, and not before.
On the niggling issue of donor dependence, Shein said his government will work hard to enable Zanzibar to become financially self-reliant.
According to the Minister for union affairs and the environment in the Union government, January Makamba, Shein has done the right thing in not appointing a first vice president so far because no one (in the opposition) is qualified to hold such a post constitutionally.
Meanwhile, hours after delivering his inaugural speech to the House, Shein appointed seven House of Representatives members, including three opposition presidential candidates who participated in the polls re-run.
Members of the opposition appointed by the president to serve in the House include Hamad Rashid Mohamed from the ADC party, Said Soud Said (African Farmers Party's - AFP), and Juma Ali Khatib (ADA-TADEA).
The other four appointed members are all from the ruling CCM party; former state minister Mohamed Aboud Mohamed, former Tanzania (Union government) presidential hopeful Amina Salum Ali, Moulin Castico, and Ambassador Ali Karume.

Quite a memorable brand thanks to the emotions it inspires, plus the catchy soundtracks attached to it, Coca Cola has for a long time mastered the art of the party!  From the house parties to the mainstream turn ups, you are bound to hear someone asking for a coca cola.In my own world!
 This time round, they decided to do things differently at the unveiling of their “Taste the feeling” campaign when they announced that East Africa would finally have a tune that would uniquely resonate with them!
This being a grand deal that many top acts would love to bag, the big question was who would represent the East African region? After extensive profiling, Diamond was chosen to create a Swahili version of the “Taste the feeling” soundtrack which has a fresh twist to it.
“Coca-Cola Company has always been a friend to Africa as a continent, and it is for this reason that we celebrate some of our renowned African artists as we bring taste the feeling campaign to life.
